Swinging at the Park

May 15, 2012

We like to go on walks in the evening and we always walk to a park that is close by.  This particular evening there were very few people out, so we decided to let Luke try out the big swings.

He's the one who decided to hold on like this.  If we tried to move his arms he would start crying.

I love this picture the best!  He's so cute and funny!

He had a great time!

Oh and for dinner that night we enjoyed a delicious salad!  It was a bacon, apple, feta, walnut, with Raspberry Vinaigrette.  Yum! We'll be eating lots of salads this summer so we don't have to use our stove/oven.

Book Signing

May 11, 2012

So, now my posts are out of order because I forgot to move my pictures from my phone to my computer.  Oops.

Anyway, back on the 11th, Brian, Luke, and I drove down to Dallas so I could go to a book signing.  The author is Jen Lancaster and she writes hilarious books.  I was first introduced to her back in 2006 by my mom.  She is seriously funny, I always find myself literally laughing out loud when I'm reading her books.  Her website is also hilarious.  Check her out!

Brian was awesome and entertained Luke while I listened to Jen read an excerpt from her new book and answer fan questions.  The signing was upstairs and Brian and Luke stayed downstairs, but they would wander around and I could see them.  Luke even looked up and found me.  We wished I could have gotten a picture of that, but I didn't want to be rude.  I then had Brian stand in line for me while I fed Luke.  I went and sat in the Spanish section because I hoped it would be a spot with not much traffic.  Thankfully I always have my nursing cover as a couple of people did walk by.  Ha ha.

I then got her newest book "Jeneration X" signed.

A big thanks to Brian for entertaining Luke for those couple of hours.  Luke thankfully did well.

We then went to In-N-Out for dinner.  Yum!

New Ways to Eat

Giving Luke baby food did not go so well, so we took a break for a couple of weeks.  We could see that he wasn't enjoying it and I didn't want food to be something "forced" upon him.  Then I was at Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago and came across a couple of things I thought Luke might like to make eating food more enjoyable!

First we got a mesh food holder.  This is great for slices of fruit or chunks of veggies.  He can suck on the mesh and get some food through it.  It's small bits that he can't choke on.  Here's Luke giving it a go!

He likes apple!  :)

I also bought him some banana flavored puff pieces.  These are like cereal, but they dissolve within seconds.

He's good at picking them up.  They don't always make it in his mouth the first time, but he's getting better with each puff and already knows which fingers the puff needs to be in to put it in his mouth.  It's so fun to watch him figure it out.

Then, I also bought a squeezeable pouch of sweet potato and apple.  Luke loved this way more than being spoon fed.  He can suck through the "straw like part".

Yum!

Yay for making eating more fun!  We love it when he's happy!

1st Mother's Day

May 13th, 2012

My first Mother's Day was great!  We got up and went to church where Luke was an angel.  He loves seeing all the people.  Unfortunately his morning nap falls during the block and he won't sleep because there's just too much going on.  It messes up our schedule a bit, but we get it back on track.  Brian took Luke for the 3rd hour, so I got to enjoy the lesson in Relief Society.  When we came home we ate and took naps.  It was great!  Here are some pictures.

I just love this kid!

My gift was some delicious ice cream which I had picked out earlier in the week.  Ice cream is my favorite and so Blue Bell has become a staple in this house.  It's the best ice cream!  I love all their fun flavors.  I got 4 different flavors; Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Red Velvet Cake, Pistachio Almond, and Dessert Trio.  I was one happy mommy!

Luke also "wrote" me a wonderful letter, with the help of Brian!  I sure am lucky to be this kid's mom!  He's the best and make me so happy!

A week of fun and firsts

May 1st-6th

Luke got a new toy!  I bucket of fun shaped blocks!

Mom builds the towers and Luke knocks them over!

Luke has been so much fun.  He's finally gotten into a better routine and is much happier because of it.  He wakes up with smiles and chatters away all day!  It's such a joy to be his mom!

May 3rd
Thanks again to Pinterest, I made a fun and delicious dinner.  Buffalo chicken tacos with Mexican Street corn.  Brian took one bite and said it needed to be in our dinner rotation.

We let Luke enjoy one of the cobs after we had eaten the corn off it.  He thought it was so cool!

I love to make Luke laugh.  Here I am getting him with his butterfly toy!

He's my favorite!

Luke's first time at the swimming pool!

Luke loved watching all the other kids that were there.  It was hard to get him to look at the camera  Much thanks to the Taylor grandparents for his swimming outfit! He looks adorable!

Feeling the water with our feet.

Putting our hands in it.

He definitely splashed!

We have a cute video, but blogger hasn't been accepting videos from our new camera.  :(  We are trying to take our videos in a lower quality, so that the file is smaller.  Lame!

Making a silly face!

This pool is in our development.  It's walking distance from our house and I have a feeling Luke and I will be spending lots of time here this summer!  You can tell he loved it.  The water was a little chilly (pools aren't heated in Texas) but it'll be perfect with the hot summer coming up.

I think he had a great time!

He he.  I put the blocks on Luke's ears.  He sure does look cute!

May 5th

Our sweet neighbors brought Luke another toy!  It's a play mat/tunnel.  He thinks it is so cool.  Here's some pictures.

Luke loves to grab and pull mommy's hair.  Ouch!

Daddy, peaking in the background.

Fuss face!  This means he's done.

But he will enjoy eating the exterior.

Brian and I went and bought some yummy chocolates from other countries.  You can find these at World Market.  They were good.  I especially enjoyed the Carmel Kit-Kat.

We went back to the pool again on Saturday.  We went in the deeper end (3 feet) and played there.  Here's an adorable video of Luke with Brian.  He was having so much fun!

Drying off

May 6th

Here's another recipe that I got off Pinterest.  I sure do love that website.  It's made our dinners better!

I made chicken Cesar sandwiches on homemade buns.  It was delicious!

Phew, that was quite a week!
