Hollywood and Highland

July 31, 2010

Brian and I have decided to explore LA, since I am very unfamiliar with the area and all that it has to offer.  So, Saturday morning we woke up and Brian made me his mom's coffee cake.  Boy was it delicious and I was very impressed with Brian's skills.  I think that with the waffles and coffee cake he should make me breakfast everyday.  Right?

Yum!

We then decided to go check out Hollywood and Highland.  It's where the Walk of Fame is, as well as the Kodak and Chinese Theater.  Here are pictures from our exploration.  It was my first time seeing it all.

Yay for Harry Potter!  Brian let me squat down by my HP boyfriend Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley).  I think that kid is so cute!

Who doesn't love George Clooney?  Anyone?  Yeah, I didn't think so.

I'm crouched down here by Robert Downey Jr.  I think he's pretty good looking too.  :)

The Hollywood sign is behind me.  Can you see it?  I can't...

While walking around we came across a Fudge Kitchen and we just had to try some!

I got the chocolate Butterfinger which was okay.  Brian got the Dulce de Leche.  It was amazing!  So good!  I had major fudge envy!

After our dessert we decided to go out for some real food.  Brian finally took me to his favorite Thai restaurant, Krua Thai.

We had some delicious Fried Rice and Pad See Ew.  Now, I had never had Pad See Ew before and I was really scared but Brian "twisted my arm" (his words) and we ordered it.  Oh my!  It was so amazing.  I'm craving some now as I write this.

It was a fun day of sights and good eats!

The Happiest Place on Earth

July 24, 2010

I love Disneyland and have since I was a kid!  Even though there are tons of people there all the time, I still enjoy going.  Brian and I headed a few days after my birthday to play!  We hit up a lot of rides that we didn't get to go on last May, which was great.  Here's some great pictures from the day.

Here's a funny video of me on the teacups.  :)

Here's Brian on the Small World ride.  I'm not a very good photographer.  Oops.

Here we are getting ready to go on Splash Mountain!

Brian decided to video tape the big drop on the ride.  I was so worried the camera was going to fly out of his hands cause we don't have a strap of any kind on it.

Here's a picture of the picture Disneyland tries to sell you after riding the ride.

After Splash Mountain we decided to eat an early lunch and had breakfast!

It was good!  We then decided to have another go on Splash Mountain.  :)

Then we were off to Toon Town.

He he.  My strong man!

This is from Space Mountain.  I can't get enough of this ride!

We then headed over to California Adventure.

"I" for Ingram!  Love it!

I took Brian to the Tower of Terror ride.  He hadn't been on it before (his first time to CA adventure was when we went last year) and I wasn't giving him a ton of hints about what the ride was like.  He he :)  The wait was super short, which helped in this case and boy was Brian in for a surprise.

The poor guy was so freaked out!  I was laughing so hard.  He just kept saying, "Please make it stop!"  "Oh no!" "Don't!"  It was so funny.  Here's our picture from the ride.

Click on the picture to get a better glimpse of Brian's face.  It's awesome.  Okay, I was screaming too, but he is just too cute!

Isn't this such a cute picture?  I love it!  I sometimes call Brian "Goofy" when he's being silly.  So, when we saw Goofy out on Main Street I made Brian stand in line with all the little kids to get a picture!

That night we watched the Fantasmic Show.  At least I think that's what it's called...you know, like Fantasia (the movie)  Ha ha.

It had been a long time since I had seen a show.  It was a great way to end our long but fun day at Disneyland.  I can't wait to go back soon!

My Birthday!

July 21, 2010

Sadly my birthday was on a work day!  I hate that.  I think that all companies should give employees the day off for their birthday!  Who really wants to work that day anyway?  I sure don't...but I did.

After work I came home and Brian and I headed to the Greek Theater!  It's a great outdoor venue!  Brian had surprised me a few weeks earlier with tickets to see Keane!  I absolutely love Keane!  I saw them twice last year as you may have read about on my old blog.  They are my favorite!

Ingrid Michaelson opened the show!  She was seriously awesome!  I really enjoyed her songs and her interaction with the crowd!  She made the concert more fun, even doing a hilarious version of Brittney Spears' "Toxic" as her final song!  It was so cool!

Here Brian and I are waiting for Keane to come on!

And finally they do and they rock!  If you've never listened to them before, you should!  I love the lyrics of the songs and Tom, the lead singer.  He's got such a great voice that can hit some high notes.

Ha ha.  Brian caught me singing along!

Here's a video of their song called, "Haven't Told Me Anything" from their 3rd album Perfect Symmetry.  I love this song live because of the little dance the keyboardist does.

Then, this next video  Brian took is of their most popular song, "Somewhere Only We Know."  This may sound familiar to anyone who was at our wedding reception.  We had this be the final song played before we left.  When Brian and I began dating I had to explain my love of Keane to him.  Keane was what I called my "therapy music" for several years.  Keane was a group I loved to listen to daily and the lyrics have made such an impact on me.  So, I burned Brian a mix of my favorite Keane songs, which was really had to do seeing that I loved them all, but I didn't want to overwhelm him.  One day while we were at work, he said he'd see me tonight (via phone of course) and that it would be "Somewhere Only We Know".  :)  He's so romantic!

Now, this last video contains one of my absolute favorite songs (I have 2 that I love more than the rest, and this is one of them).  It's called "Bedshaped" and it's from Keane's first album "Hopes and Fears."  Sadly Brian focused a little too bit on me during this song.  I am NOT a good singer, but I tend to belt it out at concerts hoping no one can hear me.  The videos, picked up my voice :(.  But the song is amazing and I wanted to share it!

It was such a wonderful night and an amazing way to spend my 1st birthday with my husband!  He picked a great present to give me!  I loved it!
