Honeymoon Part 7

Sunday June 13, 2010

The Final Day...

We did not want to waste a single moment on our last day in Hawaii.  We got up early and finished off our cheesecakes for breakfast (boy did we eat super healthy on this honeymoon)!

Then we were off to Pearl Harbor.  We wanted to make sure we got to tour the USS Arizona Memorial, which fills up pretty quick so we got there not long after it opened at 7am and we got tickets for the 9:30 tour.  While we waited to tour the Memorial we got to do an audio tour of the USS Bowfin submarine.  It was so cool.  Beware, there are tons of pictures (for the whole day really):

It was really neat to see.  I can't believe men could stand to stay in those for days or weeks at a time.  I'd get claustrophobic.  Yikes!  After the sub tour we wandered around the grounds for a little bit.

At 9:30 it was our turn to go to the Arizona Memorial.  We took a boat over there and took lots more pictures.

It is a really beautiful memorial to honor those who died there.

Brian's maternal grandfather was stationed at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 on the USS Pennsylvania but happened to be attending church services the day the base was attacked.  We got a picture of Brian with the list of the men who died from the Pennsylvania.

So, it looks like we're leaving, right?  Well...we did, but only for a little bit.  We wanted to make sure we got to go to the Arizona memorial, but we hadn't checked out of our hotel and we needed to do that by noon.  So, we went back to the hotel to shower, pack, and then check out.  We also went out for lunch because we were going to go back and do more at Pearl Harbor.  Both Brian and I wanted another Loco Moco so we stopped at a place called Seaside (now that I think about it, it wasn't really close to the ocean).

So, Brian starting taking lots of pictures of me and this is my favorite which is why I'm putting it up.  Ha ha.

This is me sad that it's our last day in Hawaii.

And this is me happy that I get to have Loco Moco again!  Yippee!

Doesn't it look good?  Well, it is.  You just have to trust me.

Here's Brian doing a happy dance.  Cute!

After lunch we drove back out to Pearl Harbor.  This time we were touring the USS Missouri and the Aviation Museum.

The USS Missouri is incredible!  Here's more picture overload!

Did you know that the document of surrender to end World War 2 was signed on the deck of the Missouri?  I sure didn't, or I didn't pay attention in History class (sadly, I'm sure it's the latter).

It was quite the battle ship!  We loved that we got to pretty much explore the whole thing.  You could easily spend the entire day wandering around.  What a cool thing we got to do.

Sadly the Aviation Museum could not compare to the Missouri, but there are some pictures of us with the replicas of some planes.

We had such a great time at Pearl Harbor!  There was so much to see!  Our legs were tired from all the exploring we did.

So, to end our time in Hawaii we drove back to Waikiki to walk along the beach and have another yummy meal.

We stopped at Tropics Bar and Grill for dinner.  It was attached to one of the many hotels.

We had an awesome view!

I ordered a virgin Strawberry Daquiri.

Brian ordered a virgin Pina Colada but he stole my Daquiri for this awesome picture!

We also ordered the Fried Maui Onions and boy were they delicious!  Seriously, they were soooo good!  Why did we not order these before?

For dinner Brian got the garlic pizza and I got the pasta pomodoro.  They were just okay.  We realized we really should have ordered like 3 or 4 of the Maui onions!  That would have been awesome!

After dinner we said goodbye to the beach.  It was sad!

Goodbye Hawaii!  Thank you for the amazing memories!  We had a blast!

Plus a huge THANK YOU to my awesome husband Brian who put all this together!  Our honeymoon rocked!
